What if I don't need a coach seat?

Accepted Answer

Everyone attending RFTB must purchase a ticket. Tickets are for the event itself and are the same price for everyone as the coaches are sponsored and thus not included in the ticket cost. Question 2

What if I am not travelling from any of the hubs above?

Accepted Answer

If you are coming from further afield, you are still welcome to get a coach for the final leg of your journey. Go to the appropriate event page to grab one. If you are going to make your own way enrirely, then purchase from the 'no coach ticket' event page. Coach space limited so only take if needed

Question 3

How far is the coach drop off point from the venue?

Accepted Answer

In Dundalk, the coaches will be dropping off and picking up at the Louth County Library, approximately 150m walk from Toale’s. Toale’s is wheelchair accessible - there is one step at the public entrance and a ramp at the side door leading directly to the event space.

Question 4

What if I have allergies, dietary restrictions, or don't like pizza?

Accepted Answer

We will be ordering a variety of pizza, including gluten-free and vegan. Everything will be done to ensure no cross-contamination occurs but food is coming from off-site, so we cannot make guarantees. You are welcome to bring your own food or order from other locations using apps like JustEat, etc.

What if I don’t drink alcohol?

Though this All-Ireland event may be happening at an Irish Pub, there will be plenty of non-alcoholic drinks available at the venue.

Question 6

Who are the speakers?

Accepted Answer

A range of speakers from North and South on a range of subjects. This year to streamline things, these are Lightning Talks - 10 minutes maximum, with no visual support. No video, no slides, no pie charts, just a mic and some verbal storytelling magic.

Question 8

What’s open-mic? Will there be stand up comedy?

Accepted Answer

No no. You lot aren’t that funny. It’s a space for people to take 60 seconds to promote themselves, their games, studios, roles they’re hiring for, roles they want, skills they have, ask for a mentor, beg for money, etc. It’s a space to shout-out why you’re here, for those brave enough to use it.

Why Dundalk?

Back when we did the first RFTB, most of the Irish dev scene was in Belfast or Dublin, and Dundalk was a convenient halfway point. That said, we making plans to take RFTB on the road, as such, to different (near-)border towns that might suit other regions better, interest/funding allowing.

What will happen to any profits made?

Accepted Answer

Run For The Border is a non-profit gathering. Should we make some extra money, it will go towards RFTB 2025. In the event that no further events are run, any excess money will go to charity.
