Description

“Are We There Yet?” speaker night on June 6, 2018 at 6:00 pm to discuss school-related stress in the South Bay school community.

In pursuit of her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting, Brianna Baker is presenting a speaker night titled “Are We There Yet?” featuring three speakers at Redondo Union High School’s [RUHS] auditorium. The speakers will answer students’ questions regarding stress and how to prevent, manage, and cope with it. The night’s theme is resilience, focusing on common worries of high school students, such as: What happens if I don’t get into a good college? How do I choose the right career? What do others think about me? How can I balance school, extracurricular, and a social life? How can I learn to think positively and be happy?

The speakers for the night include: Dr. Danica Lomeli, a board-certified Family Physician and core faculty member at the Pomona Valley Family Medicine Residency Program; Dr. Pasha A. Jackson, an ex-Professional Football Player and current Resident Physician taking special interest in the intersections of social determinants of health and integrative medicine within the broad field of Family Medicine; finally, Dr. Dan Blocker, the director of behavioral health at Pomona Valley Family Medicine.
