About this event
We made the difficult decision to move our originally scheduled Ruckmas event on December 5, 2020 to virtual due to the recent governor mandates and rising COVID cases in Utah. The great news is you can still earn your patch throughout the month of December and anyone can now participate across the country! This event will still benefit the YCC Family Crisis Center! Get signed up now below as spots are limited! Thanks for your support as we continue to navigate these challenging times!
The holidays should be a wonderful time of year for all. Unfortunately, some fall on hard times and are unable to provide for themselves or their family. True North Endurance and Events focuses on giving back all year long and the holidays are no exception.
So what is Ruckmas? Rucking is walking with a weighted rucksack (aka backpack). Think of it as our version of wearing a ruck/pack on your back, filling it full of goodies and delivering them to others in need! There is no minimum weight required in your ruck/pack. We will be partnering with The YCC Family Crisis Center to donate items in need. If you don't live in the greater Salt Lake City area, you can still participate!
Even though we have gone virtual with this event, it still remains FREE. We have less than 80 patches and once they are gone, they are gone and we will not be ordering more. You must register and follow one of the options below to be eligible for a patch. Please only register if you will complete one of the options below to earn your patch. Once we run out of patches, you can still participate and do some good this holiday season!
Instructions to Participate if Living in the Greater Salt Lake City Area
Option 1 - Anytime in the month of December, gather items needed and ruck them to the YCC Family Crisis Center (2261 Adams Ave, Ogden, UT). Your rucking distance should be a minimum of 3 miles roundtrip but you can make it as long as you would like. Our original start location was Lorin Farr Park (769 Canyon Road, Ogden, UT) which would give you the 3 miles roundtrip.
Donation drop offs directly to the YCC Family Crisis Center can be done during the days/hours listed below. PLEASE MARK YOUR DONATION WITH THE WORD "RUCKMAS" SO WE CAN TRACK OUR DONATION EFFORTS.
- Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
- Sunday: CLOSED
Enter the main parking lot on Adams Avenue and drive west around the building to the warehouse for the drop-off location.
** Please do not leave items when the center is closed.
