THIS MEMORIAL DAY, Come join the Anna VFW as we honor our fallen servicemembers.

Each Participant receives an Exclusive event T-shirt and a finisher's medal.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IN ORDER TO GET A T-SHIRT/MEDAL: MAY 10TH!

That's not all!

We aren't going to make you carry equipment, a large backpack, or any weights like our servicemembers do on their ruck marches, but IF you want to get the full experience our service members usually carry 35lb.

IF you ruck the whole 5k with a 35lb. backpack (standard weight), you'll receive a $5 drink credit valid at the Anna VFW (valid for 30 days from event date).

The Ruck will start AND end at SOUTHERN BANK. THEN head out to the Anna VFW to watch the Memorial Day Service, followed by the 5K award ceremony where we will hand out your t-shirt and finisher medal. Lunch will be provided while you enjoy some great entertainment by THE HOLLERBOYS from 12-2.

There will be award medals handed out for the first 3 male and first 3 female finishers! Awards will be handed out at the VFW after the Memorial Day Service!


There will be a drink station around the halfway mark as we pass it on our ruck, but You MAY want to pack a water bottle in your ruck sack for along the way.

On the day of the ruck: participants need to check in at SOUTHERN BANK between 7-8am. You will need your ticket to check in and to receive your T-shirt, medal, and vouchers at the VFW after the Memorial Day Service. The ruck will start at 8am.

We aren't done yet! Curt's Classics is a sponsor for this event, which means we have an AMAZING raffle to be a part of! If EVERY ticket is sold you will have a 1 in 750 chance to win a 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak! Tickets are only $50! *Terms and Conditions: Winner does not have to be present. Winner is responsible for TTL. Winner is responsible for any shipping expenses. Documentation will be completed by Curt's Classics. Minimum of 400 tickets must be sold. No more than 750 tickets will be sold. In the event 400 tickets are not sold, raffle will turn into a 50/50 drawing.

FAQ's


Tell us about the route!

The ruck will start at Southern Bank in Anna. It will continue toward the Anna Jr. High, through the fruit section, down Davie St., through the Anna Park, and back up S. Main St. It will end back at Southern Bank.


A couple MAJOR rules are to be followed.

The route will cross a few busy streets. All approved crosswalks are to be used correctly. Traffic signals are to be followed.

Sidewalks (when present) will be used for the route. Rucking in the road when a sidewalk is present is not permitted. This is for the safety of all participants. There are portions of the route where no sidewalk is present. Participants should stay along the side of the road for safety and to minimize the disruption of traffic.


What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There are several places along Main St. to park, as well as the parking lot right next to Southern Bank (provided by First Evangelical Presbyterian Church). Please be courteous and pull off the side of the road as much as possible to keep traffic disruption to a minimum.

What can I bring into the event?

Participants may bring some form of hydration/snack that you will need during the ruck to keep you going.

VFW will hosting a lunch at the end of the event, but there will be drinks available for purchase. Alcoholic beverages available inside the VFW as well. So be sure to bring some money for drinks.


Can I bring my pet?

No pets allowed.
Service animals are welcome.


What should I wear to the event?

You should wear something comfortable that you will be able to walk in for the extent of your ruck. If you prefer to get the full experience of a ruck, you are allowed to carry up to 35 lbs in a backpack. Feel free to decorate your ruck sack in honor of your servicemember for whom you will be rucking. Attach ribbons, pictures, patches...etc. This is YOUR way to honor them.

What's the refund policy?

No refunds are available once the tickets are purchased.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes. You will need your printed ticket to check-in and receive your event T-shirt and medal.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

No, registration fees and tickets are non-transferable.


How can I get involved if I can't participate?

There are two ways you can get involved! Thanks for being willing to help!

1- Volunteer your time! We will need plenty of assistance to ensure this event runs smoothly. Contact an event coordinator to see how you can help!

2- Even if you are not able to donate time or participate, donations are ALWAYS welcomed. We thank you for having a giving heart. Contact an event coordinator to make a contribution to the VFW.
