THIS MEMORIAL DAY, Come join the Anna VFW as we honor our fallen servicemembers.

Each Participant receives an Exclusive event T-shirt and a finisher's medal.

YOU HAVE OPTIONS THIS YEAR!

We are going CADENCE STYLE! If you aren't competitive, would like to ruck, with or without a backpack, in formation, and have fun as you walk with others in a group as we sing along to some of the best military cadences (songs)... then CADENCE STYLE is for YOU! Just choose the appropriate ticket when registering. No awards will be handed out at the end for this, but each ruck participant still gets the T-shirt AND Finisher's Medal! This is a group paced option, but we'll have a lot of fun together!

We aren't going to make you carry equipment, a large backpack, or any weights like our servicemembers do on their ruck marches, but IF you want to get the full experience our service members usually carry 35lb.

IF YOU CRAVE COMPETITION, choose the 5K Ruck Participant ticket! If you ruck the whole 5k with a 35lb. backpack (standard weight), you'll be eligible for 1st-3rd place awards! This is a self paced route. You set your individual pace, and do not have to stay with a group. If you are in it for the competition, this one is for you!

The Ruck will start AND end on at the Main Street Center on South Main Street in Anna. THEN head out to the Anna VFW to watch the Memorial Day Service, followed by the 5K award ceremony where we will hand out awards. Lunch will be provided while you enjoy some great entertainment by RAQUEL RAE from 12-2. Did I mention lunch and the concert are FREE!?

There will be award medals handed out for the first 3 male and first 3 female finishers! Awards will be handed out at the Anna VFW after the Memorial Day Service!


There will be a drink station around the halfway mark as we pass it on our ruck, but You MAY want to pack a water bottle in your ruck sack for along the way.

On the day of the ruck: participants need to check in at the MAIN STREET CENTER between 6:30-7am. You will need your ticket to check in. The ruck will start at 7:30am.

*TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Contestant does not need to be present to win. Minimum 3,000 tickets must be sold. Winner is responsible for tax, title, license, freight, set up, and any shipping fees. In the event 3,000 tickets are not sold, raffle will turn into a single prize 50/50 drawing. Contestant does not need to be present to win. Must be 18 or older. Ticket value $8.33

FAQ's


Tell us about the route!

The ruck will start at the Main Street Center on South Main Street in Anna. It will continue toward the Anna Jr. High, through the fruit section, down Davie St., through the Anna Park, and back up S. Main St. It will end back at the Main Street Center.


A couple MAJOR rules are to be followed.

The route will cross a few busy streets. All approved crosswalks are to be used correctly. Traffic signals are to be followed.

Sidewalks (when present) will be used for the route. Rucking in the road when a sidewalk is present is not permitted. This is for the safety of all participants. There are portions of the route where no sidewalk is present. Participants should stay along the side of the road for safety and to minimize the disruption of traffic.


What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is a parking lot at the back of the Main Street Center as well as parking along the side of the building.

What can I bring into the event?

Participants may bring some form of hydration/snack that you will need during the ruck to keep you going.

VFW will hosting a lunch at the end of the event, but there will be drinks available for purchase. Alcoholic beverages available inside the VFW as well. So be sure to bring some money for drinks.


Can I bring my pet?

No pets allowed.
Service animals are welcome.


What should I wear to the event?

You should wear something comfortable that you will be able to walk in for the extent of your ruck. If you prefer to get the full experience of a ruck, you are allowed to carry up to 35 lbs in a backpack. Feel free to decorate your ruck sack in honor of your servicemember for whom you will be rucking. Attach ribbons, pictures, patches...etc. This is YOUR way to honor them.

What's the refund policy?

No refunds are available once the tickets are purchased.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes. You will need your printed ticket to check-in and receive your event T-shirt and medal.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

No, registration fees and tickets are non-transferable.


How can I get involved if I can't participate?

There are two ways you can get involved! Thanks for being willing to help!

1- Volunteer your time! We will need plenty of assistance to ensure this event runs smoothly. Contact an event coordinator to see how you can help!

2- Even if you are not able to donate time or participate, donations are ALWAYS welcomed. We thank you for having a giving heart. Contact an event coordinator to make a contribution to the VFW.
