Not sure what a ruck is? Never heard of F3? Now's your chance to do something to give back to the community and find the leader within.
About this event
Ruck on the Roanoke is a new yearly event hosted by F3 MarCo NC to benefit charities and foundations that are near and dear to us. F3 MarCo NC is part of a nationwide organization based on raising up leaders through Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith (F3). We desire to help men become who they are meant to be. To be better leaders, husbands, fathers, and servants. To be better in all aspects of life by God's grace. We do this through group fitness - weekly beatdowns, rucks, walks, runs, and stretching; fellowship - meeting together for meals, community building, events, doing life together, and group messaging; and faith - discipleship, weekly Bible study, and accountability.
For this event, if you've never heard of a ruck, it's basically just a weighted walk. You can ruck with a backpack full of water bottles, ankle weights, a 100lb ruck sack, or even plate carriers/vests, whatever floats your boat. Our standard at F3 is 30-35lbs in a backpack, but the ruck can even be done without weights.
Ruck on the Roanoke is not just a weighted walk though, we will have [optional] beatdowns throughout the ruck - 10 total - using a deck of cards full of F3 exercises, the beatdowns will be randomized for each group. Your "Q", or F3 lingo for group leader, will demo each exercise. Not to mention, we say [optional] because one of the core principles of F3 is "Listen to Your Body - Modify if Necessary". Can't do 20 squats? Do 10. Can't do a burpee? Do a pushup and modified squat at your own pace.
This ruck will be round about 5 miles starting at the Roanoke River boat landing and finishing at the same spot. The bike trail will take us up into town, we'll circle round the fountain, up main street, duck back through the old school neighborhood, up School Drive, down Halifax and Henderson, and finally back up to the boat landing. The ruck will start at 8AM and leave plenty of time for all groups to make it back with a BBQ and sausage dog lunch afterward. Registration for this event will get you a dri-fit type t-shirt with the Ruck on the Roanoke logo and anything left over will go directly to a local charity/ministry - for this event we’ve chosen to donate proceeds to Blessings in a Backback. Blessings in a Backpack is a ministry coordinated out Williamston Memorial Baptist Church with the help of other local churches that provide bags containing non-perishables and other items to kids in Martin County that may need meal assistance over the weekends. Feel free to donate more than the standard event registration fee! Since this event is going to benefit children that depend on Blessings in a Backpack for food through the weekends, and with Thanksgiving right around the corner - ruckers can optionally fill their ruckpacks with non-perishable foods and complete the event - after which the food will be donated!
We hope to see you there on November 7th and feel free to come out and join us on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5:30AM or Saturday at 7AM at the Riverside Track for F3 to prep for the ruck!
