Did you know that everyday there are approximately 22 suicides among our Veterans and Active Duty? That means 8,030 Veterans will take their lives this year right here at home. Our goal is to honor the fallen and raise as much awareness as possible on PTSD and Veteran suicide through a patriotic 22km ruck march.
Join us on Saturday November 12th, 2016 for the 2nd annual 22km Ruck of Honor in Raleigh North Carolina. We will start at Moore Square in Raleigh at 8A.M., make a few stops along the way, and end at MyWay Tavern. This is open to Veterans, Active Duty, and civilian supporters. WHAT TIME IS CHECK IN AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Our group will be at Moore Square as early as 630a.m. Please keep in mind that we will be departing from the park at 8a.m. sharp. Remember that you do not need to print your registration ticket. Provide us with your name or pull up your ticket on your phone and we'll be able to check you in that way. Super easy! We will also do random ruck sack/bookbag checks; its for your safety and ours. Once you're checked in and checked out you will receive a special wristband that you need to attach to your bookbag/rucksack. There are no bibs because this isn't a race! Our opening ceremony will start at 730AM.
HOW DO I GET THERE? PARKING?
There is plenty of parking throughout but our first suggestion is to have someone drop you off and then meet you again at the end.
APPROXIMATELY WHAT TIME WILL THE RUCK MARCH END? CAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEET US AT MY WAY TAVERN?
We all walk at different paces so it's important that you let your friends and family know what time you'll be arriving. The majority of the partcipants will arrive between 3PM- 4PM.
There's options for lunch! You can either pick something up along the way since we'll pass a few restaurants or pack your own lunch and eat it at your leisure. We'll have a lunch break along the way to rest and regroup. Bathrooms will be available at most stops.
DO I REALLY NEED TO CARRY 22 POUNDS?
The weight in the rucksack signifies the fallen. It is up to you how much you would like to carry. You can carry as much or as little as you can.
WHO PROVIDES THE RUCK SACKS AND WEIGHT?
Please bring your own rucksack and weight. Many people fill their ruck sacks with water bottles to keep them hydrated along the way. You can also fill your sack with snacks, bricks, and pretty much anything else you can think of.
CAN I CARRY AN AMERICAN FLAG OR TEAM FLAG?
Definitely! We encourage everyone to carry a flag on their ruck sack.
CAN I BRING MY DOG? STROLLER?
Yes to both! Please remember that it's a long walk and to bring additional snacks and water.
ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
Yes, prepare for the physical demands of the ruck march. Cut your toe nails (if not you may lose them, seriously), prep for chafing, (buy runners underwear or a boxer briefs to prevent your thighs from rubbing), use good broken in shoes, moleskin, band aids, double socks, etc. It is also extremely important that you obey all traffic signs. We also suggest carrying an extra phone battery pack just in case your phone dies.

We have a professional photographer who will be taking pictures of everyone that day. If you're on social media, please don't forget to use our official hashtag #RuckOfHonor
