We hope you're ready to bring us some ENERGY!
“RTP 180°" is a monthly, thematic event series here at RTP HQ that celebrates the collaboration between the Triangle's universities, companies and communities. For our August 27 event, "RTP 180: ENERGY!,” we hope you will join us from 6:00-7:30, at RTP’s headquarters (12 Davis Drive, Durham, NC).
Our doors open at 5:00 so you can stop in right after work to grab a snack; a reception catered by Market Restaurant will follow after the event.
See you there?
RTEC (The Research Triangle Energy Consortium), Vikram Rao, executive director of RTEC and former CTO of Halliburton, is coming to talk.
NESCENT (The National Evolutionary Synthesis Center) - Animals are furry little energy machines, and Dr. Craig McClain is going to tell us why.
ELF Cars - Organic Transit's a startup, and their Durham-made ELF electric bicycle/vehicle hybrid will be on site for our guests to check out.
Duke University - Dr. Kyle Bradbury shares his research on energy aggregation in the home; where it comes from -- and -- where it goes to.
NC State - The NC State Smart Grid program is where it's at. Dr. David Lubkeman is coming to rep the nationally recognized FREEDM Center.
UNC - UNC is doing all kinds of things with solar fuels, and Ralph House of the UNC Energy Frontier Research Center is going to tell us about it.
NetPower - Zero emissions? Bill Brown, a former Wall Street executive from Goldman Sachs, AIG and Morgan Stanley, now supports entrepreneurship in the Triangle by heading up 8 Rivers Capital. One of their companies, NetPower, stands to change the world.
REAP Consulting - April Montgomery -- Sanford, North Carolinia resident -- is a consultant who has championed wind energy development in North Carolina.
Additional speakers TBD.
The 180° series is meant to be fun and light-hearted -- a sum of all the awesome of the Triangle. Our last event garnered some press attention and general appreciation; we hope you'll join us for the next iteration.
Our hashtag is #RTP180.
And after the event, videos of speakers will be uploaded to our YouTube channel over at www.youtube.com/user/TheRTPNC.
