RSBS members event: Capturing our coast fun training day
Sat, May 13, 2017, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM BST
This is a free event for members of the Royal Society of Biology introducing the UK’s largest coastal citizen science project: Capturing Our Coast. The day will start with a short introduction to the project, the Scottish Association for Marine Science and the marine environment by project coordinator Dr Hannah Grist. After a quick lunch we will head out to the seashore to survey and collect seashore species (scientific rockpooling!) and take the more exciting species back into the lab for full identification and investigation. No previous knowledge of marine biology required – just enthusiasm, curiosity and a pair of Wellies! Data collected will help create species distribution maps, study impacts of climate change, investigate the effectiveness of conservation policies and more. There will be an optional tour of the Scottish Association for Marine Science facilities at the end of the day.
Please note that the event is free but there is a £6 charge for soup (vegetarian) and sandwiches lunch payable on the day. Please contact the organiser if you do NOT want us to order this for you or if you have special dietary requirements.
