Event description

Description

Rockford Public Schools will be offering staff many opportunities for professional development in the 2016-2017 school year.

We have scheduled late starts and half days already in the district calendar. The late start days will be dedicated to continuing professional development in the area of the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model. The half-day sessions will be designed as so that there is a choice in three different one hour sessions including technology, science, math, strategies, book clubs etc.

There are four half-day professional development opportunities in the district calendar. Certified staff is required to attend two of the four sessions. Staff is more than welcome to attend more than two days, but not less than the required two days.

We would like to get an idea of the number of staff that is interested in attending any of the four half-day sessions. Please sign up for at least two of the dates in the registration window. (October 14, November 11, March 3, june 7) We will have more specific information on the session details as we come closer to the dates.

Topics could include:
Schoology
Technology use in the classroom
Sessions in the core subject areas
Instructional Strategies
Special Education
Make and Take
Panel Discussions
School Improvement Strategies

Sessions will run in the afternoon for our 1/2 days.

Scheduling 4 sessions allows room for secondary staff to attend PD closer to the time that they get out of school and accommodates the elementary schedule so staff can attend three sessions after their students are dismissed as well.

Please select the two dates that you are interested in attending by September 26th.
