Event description
Join Omaha Permaculture for a hands on workshop demonstrating basic techniques for turning trees into construction grade lumber!

About this Event

Join Omaha Permaculture for a hands on workshop demonstrating basic techniques for turning trees into construction grade lumber. We will be using invasive Easter Red Cedar as our wood of choice to create a natural, rot resistant bulletin board at one of our neighborhood properties. We will build the bulletin board from start to finish during this single day event and cover all topics from peeling bark off fallen trees, preserving wood with fire, foundations and footings for roundwood construction, basic male and female joinery for roundwood construction and assembly of our frame with a small roof installed to help shelter it from the elements. We are limiting the class size to 15 students to keep the gathering intimate and hands on. Although not required, some basic gear may make your experience more enjoyable including things such as gloves and boots and a water bottle for staying hydrated.

Please bring your own lunch and note that the $10 registration fee will be used to purchase dinner ingredients for a cookout immediately to follow the workshop. If you have any questions or would like to register for the workshop, please contact Cienna Salerno at omahapermaculture.cienna@gmail.com
