The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO invites you to join us at an invitation-only Rountable Luncheon in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act (VRA).

This legislation included federal protection in those jurisdictions with a strong history of racially-based voting suppression -- in the forms of violent intimidation at the polls, poll taxes, language obstacles, voter identification barriers, and racist gerrymandering and more. 

But two years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ended much of this federal protection in Shelby v. Holder, saying that those jurisdictions were no longer entitled to this special protection.   So as we celebrate, we must also begin again to bring back these protections for the many places in the U.S. where civil rights protections are desperately needed still.

Our Roundtable panel will include a robust conversation on how we move forward at the federal, state and local level.

The Roundtable panel will feature prominent leaders and experts including:
