Jazz saxophone legend Dexter Gordon is the subject of a new autobiography/biography, Sophisticated Giant: The Life and Legacy of Dexter Gordon (University of California Press, 2018). Maxine Gordon finished and compiled the work, and will speak about the book as an introduction to ‘Round Midnight. Now a classic, the film ‘Round Midnight brought Dexter Gordon both a Grammy for the soundtrack and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
