___________________________________________________________

When pop/R&B artist Ross David released his original acoustic song “Fire Burnin’” on YouTube, he was completely unprepared for the attention it would receive over the Internet. To Ross, the young, up-and-coming artist from Terre Haute, Indiana, “Fire Burnin’” was “just another song” he wrote and enjoyed performing, but music lovers proved it was much more than that. The popularity of Ross’s video spread rapidly, garnering over 80,000 views through word-of-mouth alone. People from all over the world, most of whom Ross has never even met, started posting videos of their own covers of the song, as well as videos of choreography performed to it. In our present time of karaoke-like game shows and mainstream cover videos, Ross’s organic, wildfire-like success proves he is an artist to watch.

Since 2012, Ross has independently released four EPs: The Chicago Sessions, Heart Breaker, Love & War and Future Love. These EPs showcase his raw, heartfelt singer/songwriter vibe, in the vein of artists like John Mayer and James Morrison. At his core though, Ross is most strongly influenced by pop/R&B artists such as John Legend, Robin Thicke and Bruno Mars. In retrospect, the release of “Fire Burnin’” (which now has over 2 MILLION streams on Spotify) showed itself as an experiment for Ross, who was always testing the waters with his R&B roots. The success of “Fire Burnin’” therefore is proof that his strongest sound is the one that is most uniquely him: a blend of heartfelt lyrics commonly found among singer/songwriters, with the sweet, fun qualities of pop music and the passionate, soulful qualities found in R&B.

Quite appropriately, the lyrical themes throughout Ross’s music emphasize passion for chasing dreams and inspiring others to do the same. “I’ve fallen in love with learning and working to become the best that I can be,” he says. “I love supporting others on their own journey.” Regardless of personal taste in musical genres, there is something so universally appealing about Ross David: he is a fun-loving, feel-good romantic. “I love to love,” he says. His live performances facilitate a great time among the audience, while simultaneously his soft, soothing vocals and rhythmic guitar playing engrave a fluttery feeling of warmth into our hearts, providing an intimate connection with those who seek it.
