Based on original research, Martin Bailey, author of 'Studio of the South: Van Gogh in Provence', will talk about the artist's fifteen months in Arles, where he accomplished his finest work. He did portraits of friends and it was in Provence that he really became a landscape painter. Van Gogh also painted his celebrated ‘Sunflowers’ to welcome Paul Gauguin to the Yellow House. Bailey's talk will discuss this extraordinary period in Van Gogh’s life, revealing discoveries that shed new light on one of most revered artists.
