Event description

Description

This program's curriculum is a repeat of Fall 2017 (September 18- October 12, 2017) at Aurora Hills, Columbia Pike, and Westover Branch Libraries. If your child attended the Fall 2017 program they should not register for this four-month Saturday program.

DESCRIPTION

The core of Rosie Riveters’ programs is a project-based curriculum for girls in kindergarten through eighth grade that is open to the public and is completely free of charge. The hands-on projects at the core of our program teach STEM skills, encourage girls to develop their own creative processes for design and implementation, and enable them to see their skills in action. All these elements work together to develop each participant’s confidence in her abilities.

AGENDA

You must commit to attending all four sessions (see dates below) to register for the program. All sessions will take place on Saturdays in the Quincy Room at the Central Branch of Arlington Public Library.

January 26, 2019 from 10:30am-12:30pm - Art Bots

February 23, 2019 from 10:30am-12:30pm - Geometric String Art

March 23, 2019 from 10:30am-12:30pm - Code your World

April 27, 2019 from 10:30am-12:30pm - Robotic Hands

PLEASE NOTE:

This program takes place on one Saturday per month over a four month period. We will meet at 10:30am at Central Library in the Quincy Room and the program will end at 12:30pm. You must commit to attending all four sessions to register for the program. We want to ensure that our programs are able to provide a positive impact on as many participants as possible. With this in mind, please note our no-show and late policies below:

  • Please arrive on time to the start of each program. We cover a lot of information in a relatively short period so arriving late means that many important components of the lesson/project may be missed. It can also be disruptive to other participants. Late Arrivals Policy: Those who arrive late to two classes will relinquish their remaining spots to children on the waitlist.

  • We understand that things come up, especially when it comes to kids, but in order to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy the program we require a minimum of 48 hours notice so we can fill the vacant spot. No-show Policy: Those who fail to attend a program without prior 48 hours notice will relinquish their remaining spots to children on the waitlist.
