The Roseville Rotary Club is having a speaker we think you might enjoy. Neema Namadamu was born in a remote area of Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). She contracted polio at the age of 2, but with her Mom’s support, persevered to become the first handicapped woman from her tribe to graduate university, going on to serve her nation as chief advisor to the Minister of Gender and Family. Neema’s heart is as a grassroots leader, working alongside her Congolese sisters to lift them into a different future. She founded the Maman Shujaa (Hero Women) movement, which has spawned a number transformative programs for women, girls, and their communities; everything working to influence a right mind, and a right-side-up future. Plan to visit Roseville Rotary Club* on Monday, May 1, 2017, to hear her speak.
Location: Radisson Roseville Hotel, 2540 N. Cleveland Ave, Roseville, MN 55113
Cost: $20 with lunch or $10 for progam only (start time for program only will be 12:30pm)
To our guests: We begin with a buffet lunch at 12:00 noon, a brief business meeting, and a presentation.
Proceeds from this meeting will be donated to PolioPlus.
*What is the Rotary Club? Rotary is a great pathway to leadership development, networking with other leaders, and a way to give back to the community. Rotary clubs are made up of people who value “Service Above Self”. The Roseville Rotary members help others, meeting urgent needs in Roseville as well as global projects, and that’s really our mission. Our members are men and women of all ages that see a need and do something about it. Some of our members are business owners, others are representatives of a company which sees value in giving back to the community. Many members are community leaders.
The Roseville Rotary has some ongoing projects that we support, but we’re always open to new ideas that our members bring. We volunteer our time and our resources, and we will also gather support from the community for our projects. If you have a project you would like support for, joining Rotary might be a great way to gain interest and momentum. And there are plenty of opportunities to have your family members of all ages join in the fun!
