ROSE BOWL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION LUNCH- John Cooper, Brian Griese, Ron Yary
Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM (PST)
Join your friends from the Big Ten Club for the annual Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Induction Luncheon when John Cooper, Brian Griese and Ron Yary will be inducted.
John Cooper, the only coach to lead both Big Ten and Pac-12 teams to victories in the Rose Bowl Game, was a “coach of the first-tier level,” Keith Jackson said. “John Cooper was a friend of mine, is a friend of mine, and always will be a friend of mine.”
Ron Yary played for the USC Trojans and was a consensus All-American in 1966 and a unanimous All-American in 1967, and was the first Trojan to receive the Knute Rockne Award. Jackson commented, “Ron Yary, I think, should have been in the Hall of Fame long ago, because he could block out the sun.”
“Ron is part of the genre that we like to list as Rose Bowl Hall of Famers,” Jackson said, because of what they do after their playing days are over, what kind of citizens they are.
Quarterback Brian Griese led the University of Michigan to an undefeated season in 1997 and was selected player of the game in the 1998 Rose Bowl Game. “His daddy is so proud of this, because this is the first father-son combination—quarterbacks—to go into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame.”
