Roots of Music: Origins of the Motown Sound
Discover the origins of the Motown sound. Detroit has an important history of making music before the 1959 founding of Hitsville U.S.A. This presentation by the Detroit Historical Society explores the connection between the Motown sound and Detroit culture.
Joel Stone is senior curator for the Detroit Historical Society, which oversees the Detroit Historical Museum and Dossin Great Lakes Museum. He is a board member for the Association for Great Lakes Maritime History and has studied jounalism, history, archaeology, and archival management at the University of Detroit, Wayne State University, and the University College Cork, Ireland.
This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in our Putnam St. staff parking lot. Entrance to the Library is through the Woodward Avenue or Cass Avenue doors.
