Professional Bio – Deb Cockerton, BST, CYCS PGDip
Deb Cockerton has been a dedicated practitioner in the Child and Youth Care field for more than 48 years, bringing a depth of relational expertise, practice wisdom, and community leadership to everything she does. Since entering private practice in 2015, Deb has provided counselling and support to children, youth, and families through her Peterborough-based office. She is the co-owner of Otonabee Family Counselling Centre, where she has successfully mentored and onboarded five Child and Youth Care Practitioners into their own private practices under the OFCC umbrella.
As an advocate for professional growth within the field, Deb founded CYC Assets, a platform that hires Child and Youth Care Practitioners to deliver webinars and training to their peers. She is also the creator of the CYC Professional Development Tracker App, a tool designed to help practitioners document and organize their learning across the CYC Domains of Practice: https://pdtrackercycassets.ca.
Deb is a founding partner of RelationalWise, along with Heather Sago, an initiative dedicated to strengthening relational practice through training, consultation, and professional development. Their work across multiple ventures reflects their commitment to elevating the CYC and Social Work professions, fostering practitioner confidence, and expanding opportunities for practice-based entrepreneurship.
