Why Support Our Work?
Root & Rebound’s goal is to empower people in reentry, who are coming home from prison, their families and communities to overcome obstacles in reentry so that a criminal record is not a life sentence. We work to break down cycles of discrimination, incarceration, and poverty.
To restore hope and dignity, and create real opportunities and second chances for those Americans who never had a first. To bring us collectively that much closer to our most cherished values—creating an open and free society.
Today, one in three Americans lives with a criminal record and more than 650,000 people are released from prison and jail each year, the majority of whom are mothers and fathers, with families who depend on them for a support. Yet with a criminal record, a person faces more than 48,000 documented legal barriers to being the parents they want to be to their children, getting a living wage job, going back to school, and getting stable housing. Our model of public education and training, direct services, and policy advocacy is designed to holistically reduce and eliminate barriers to opportunity, so that people coming out of incarceration have a true second chance. Our statewide programs have reached over 36,000 people to date, and we are taking our first steps of launching national programs. You can read more about our work at www.rootandrebound.org
We invite you to join us today as we work towards building a fairer, more equal America that leaves no-one behind. Get your ticket today!
