Women Leading the Design Industry will be a sharing session among women on various topics as well as relevant issues in today's environment

About this Event

Women Leading the Design Industry will be a sharing session among women with various topics revolving around work/life balance, community involvement, leadership, business ownership, working in a male industry, as well as other relevant issues in today’s environment. Participants will be able to engage other women from different industries/backgrounds and hear some of the challenges, as well as successes, that women face in today’s workforce. Pre-selected table moderators will engage each participant as well as share their personal stories.

Sheila Dial Barton

Sheila Dial Barton AIA, LEED AP is a Principal with EOA Architects in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1991; this award-winning design firm is known for its innovative approach to architectural practice, called humanizing design. EOA’s focus on sustainable and environmental design includes Nashville’s first LEED-Gold high-rise, The Pinnacle at Symphony Place. Sheila recently led EOA’s design team for the $160M new Tennessee State Museum, which opened in October of 2018. First, studying Interior Design at the Art Institute of Atlanta, Sheila later received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee in 1997 and studied urban planning through UT’s foreign exchange program in Krakow, Poland. Sheila has served on numerous design juries as well as professional and community boards.

Jess Nelson

Jess Nelson is a Product Design Lead at Eventbrite, focused on improving event creators experiences every day. She spends time outside of work fighting for pay equality for women and non-binary people by leading up the Nashville Ladies Get Paid chapter. Ladies Get Paid is an international organization focus on closing the gender pay gap through education and networking. She loves talking about negotiation best practices and how to survive in male-dominated fields.

Ashley Seagroves

Ashley Bergeron Segroves is a Nashville based creative, photographer, and art curator. She is an award-winning lifestyle portrait photographer specializing in Maternity, Newborn, Children and Family Portraits as well as the Owner of Studio 208. Through Studio 2018 she works on private and public projects including murals, art busses and art installations with the business community, public spaces and private art collectors.

Gina Emmanuel

Gina prides herself on being the true well-rounded architect, caring just as much about true Design as art, but also skillful project execution and management, all while keeping genuine care and service to the client above all else. She also still manages to be uber-“involved” – from serving on the NAIOP board, to the Housing Trust Fund Commission, to The Catholic Charities board, and past stints with the board of the USGBC. And yet somehow still finds time to be a devoted wife and mother of 2. An almost lifelong Nashvillian (by way of South Africa at a very young age), Gina was a high school valedictorian, whose passion for craft and creating beautiful things surfaced as early as age 12. Gina came to Centric post-graduation in 2002.

Laura Reinbold

Laura R. Reinbold P.E. is Principal and VP with the engineering consulting firm Terracon, serving as National Director for the Healthcare strategic business sector. She serves the profession and community on many boards, some of which are groups she helped found, with a passion for elevating and connecting women in the industry. She grew up in Florida, raised four children in Nashville and now resides on a mountaintop in the Leiper’s Fork area. Laura is always looking to add diversity and interest to her world.

Kim Hawkins

Kim is a founding Principal of Hawkins Partners, Inc. (HPI), a landscape architecture and planning firm based in Nashville, Tennessee. As a landscape architect with over three decades of experience in planning, design and construction, Kim’s commitment is to connect
