The Scary of Sixty-First

Dasha Nekrasova | 2021 | US | 81 mins.

While out apartment hunting, college pals Noelle and Addie stumble upon the deal of a lifetime: a posh duplex on Manhattan's Upper East Side. But soon after moving in, a more sinister picture of the apartment emerges when a mysterious woman arrives and claims the property used to belong to the infamous and recently-deceased Jeffrey Epstein. With this news, Noelle becomes obsessed with the visitor—to the point of infatuation. As the pair plunge deeper into the conspiracies of the Epstein case, Addie falls into her own bizarre state: a pseudo-possession complete with inexplicable fits of age-regressed sexual mania. As they peel back on these strange occurrences, the truth reveals itself to be more twisted than they could have ever imagined.

Organizer Rooftop Films

Organizer of Rooftop Films | The Scary of Sixty-First (Special Sneak Preview Screening)

At Rooftop Films we believe film can be so much more than just watching a movie, so we curate unique events that combine great music, quality film, and some of the most beautiful locations that New York has to offer. By thinking beyond the screen, we help to bring communities together and change the way that film, music, art, and ideas interact with the city around us.

Rooftop Films’ mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showing movies in outdoor locations, supporting the production of new independent films, helping local organizations to produce screenings and events, and renting equipment at low-cost to artists and nonprofits. Rooftop Films is more than a film festival. We are a community. We are a collective collaboration between filmmakers and festivals; between audience members and artists; between venues and neighborhoods. Our goal is to nurture a vibrant independent filmmaking and film-going community not only by exhibiting the work of emerging filmmakers, but also by providing essential support systems for those who otherwise have none.
