Event description

Description

The Women's Building Advocacy Project is honored to host a screening of Roll Red Roll for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#SAAM2019). Directed by Nancy Shwartzman, this "true-crime thriller" examines the highly publicized high school rape case in Steubenville, Ohio. The documentary examines the role of social media, rape culture, and misogyny in an extreme case of injustice for an underaged Jane Doe. Watch the trailer here. This film is only available in theaters and will not be aired on broadcast television until summer 2019.

We must continue to hold conversations about sexual assault and rape culture in order to shine a light on this ongoing problem beyond a social media hashtag. Our screening of Roll Red Roll provides the opportunity for our community to do just that. In order to create positive change for survivors of sexual violence, we must confront our own biases and fears head on. Join us for an engaging discussion after this amazing film!

This event is FREE and we will be selling T-Shirts from the "Enough is Enough" Voter Project, a national political action committee committed to making sexual violence a voting issue. Each t- shirt costs $20 and supports Enough is Enough as well as The Women's Building in SF.
