Please join us for the first chamber recital in the intimate concert series Soirees By Moonlight.

Wine at 7:30PM and concert to commence at 8PM.

Hosts Pamela Kuhn and Christopher Jones open their moonlit home to guests to enjoy this extraordinary musical evening. There will be a 15 minute Q and A directly following the concert with Messrs. Schulte and Weng.

German-born Rolf Schulte whom The New Yorker called “one of the most distinguished violinists of our day,” made his orchestral debut with Mendelssohn’s Concerto. Studies at: Robert Schumann Conservatory Düsseldorf, Yehudi Menuhin/Gstaad, and Franco Gulli/Siena, and Ivan Galamian/Curtis Institute. Since performed with: Berlin and Munich Philharmonics, Frankfurt Museums Orchester, Stuttgart Staatsorchester, Bamberg Symphony, La Fenice Venice (Stravinsky’s Concerto), Irish National Symphony, and Radio Orchestras of Berlin, Cologne, Stuttgart, Radio Orchestra/USSR Moscow, presenting American. Two appearances at Berlin Festwochen incl. complete Stravinsky violinworks. Recent recitals in Tokyo and Vienna.

Schulte’s distinguished discography includes Schumann (Centaur), Schönberg’s Concerto with the London Philharmonia (Naxos), several pieces of Elliott Carter: Concerto, Duo, and Four Lauds (Bridge), Babbitt’s Sextets and The Joy of More Sextets (New World), and Davidovsky’s Synchronisms No. 9 (Wergo). He performs on a 1780 Lorenzo Storioni violin.

Pianist Wayne Weng’s playing has been described as “vibrant and immensely musical,” and as having “delicacy amounting to almost reverence [...] through gossamer touch” (Wiltshire Gazette & Herald). His “ability to modulate the piano’s sound [...] coupled with his great ear easily gave him an edge” (Sioux City Journal) to win the first prize at the 2013 Iowa Piano Competition. He was also a prizewinner at the Washington International Competition for Piano, where his performance in the final round “raised the excitement level of the afternoon several notches.” (The Washington Post).

As a soloist as well as a collaborator, Wayne Weng has performed in Canada, the United States, England, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Serbia, Egypt, Hong Kong and Taiwan. His performances have been featured on radio stations such as WFMT Chicago, WQXR New York, CBC Radio and Seattle King FM. He has performed concerti with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Sioux City Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra, West Coast Symphony, Philharmonic Orchestra of University of Alicante, Victoria Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Seattle, and the Avanti Orchestra.
