Event description

Description

Join us for the 4th annual ROGR - Ride On Gentleman's Ride - on Saturday, Oct. 14th leaving from Ride On Wooster at 7:30 AM. This race has two route choices that span 110 miles over 3 Ohio counties and up to 10,000 feet of climbing!

In Honor of Jeremy Grimm we are renaming this ride to ROJR

The ROGR 2017 will be a contest between 4 person teams of gentlemen/women. The courses are unsanctioned, unmarshalled, and all rule compliance will be based on the "honor system".

The ROGR 2017 teams can choose between 2 courses:

  • Course 1 will be mostly paved roads, 110 miles and 9,000 feet of climbing.

  • Course 2 consists of 85 miles of gravel and pavement with 8,000 feet of climbing.

There will be no rest stops along the way so come prepared!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.

Teams that register by August 1st pay $240.00/4 person team, for additional registration details see FAQs - The ROGR 2017 below.

RULES

  • There are going to be plenty of circumstances along the course that will not be covered in the rules. When these circumstances arise, code-of-conduct best practices apply. Let's honor each other as gentlemen and gentlewomen. Before acting to the contrary, pause and ponder these questions: "What would a gentleman/woman cyclist do?" or, "How would it affect me if another team/team member did this thing I'm about to do?"

  • To be considered an official finishing team, and to be eligible for the grand prize and trophy, your team must complete the entire course. If your team makes a wrong turn the team must go back to where the team left the route and continue from there. Keep in mind only 1 team officially finished in 2014 and each team had a Garmin with the route loaded onto it. Each ROGR 2017 course is a hard route in more ways than one! Any portion of the map left unridden will disqualify the team from any awards

  • The team may provide its own SAG vehicle. However, the team SAG vehicle CAN only help with food, water and equipment. The SAG vehicle CANNOT provide a drafting opportunity for its team, and riders will not be permitted to hold onto or enter the vehicle while the race is underway.

  • Your team's time will stop when the fourth member crosses the finish line.

The underlying spirit of this event is to challenge yourself alongside good friends and to empower each other to overcome obstacles. BE THE REASON SOMEBODY FINISHES THE RACE, NOT THE REASON SOMEBODY DOESN'T. ROGR ON EVERYBODY!!
