Event description
Roger Salloom; Musician / Entertainer with "...The writing talent of Dylan or Guthrie... hilarious and tragic, kindhearted and careless..."

About this Event

Roger Salloom began his music career in the center of the 1960s San Francisco psychedelic scene, playing the Fillmore with Santana, Van Morrison, BB King and Procul Harum. Over the course of the years, Roger has shared the bill with artists such as Van Morrison, Santana, Cheech and Chong, Doc Watson, NRBQ, Maria Muldaur, Jonathan Edwards, Paul Butterfield and many others. His musical journey starting at the age of 13 has taken him from his home town of Worcester to Indiana to Nashville to San Francisco and back again.

His story is so intriguing that it enticed an award-winning filmmaker to make a film about the subject. "So Glad I Made It, the Saga of Roger Salloom, America’s Best Unknown Songwriter", which won 6 awards, was on the 2006 Grammy ballot, and received rave reviews across the U.S.

Now days, Roger performs nationally and does a few concerts a year throughout New England. It is an honor and a special treat to host him here at The Brooklyn Coffee Tea & Guest House, a premier listening room located in Providence RI.

Like many in their twilight years, Roger says in his song Here’s To The Life… “There’s nothing more precious than your own life.” Make every moment count, as Roger does, and join us for this special night of music and entertainment.

“Roger Salloom is an artist without pretense. His music is simple and straight forward, but that doesn’t mean it’s not thoughtful and provocative as well, his ability to jump between genres and pull it all off with such aplomb suggests he’s been plying his skills for some time. Mostly, Salloom is a terrific entertainer, and given his unassuming style, it’s clear he’s capable of making a connection the very first time out.”
- Lee Zimmerman | Goldmine-The Music Collector’s Magazine
