Event description

Description

While the sculptor Auguste Rodin is in The British Museum sketching some of the Parthenon figures, he meets two new English friends, Eve Fairfax and Max Beerbohm. With their help he travels back in time to revisit his former setbacks and triumphs. The dinner given in his honour at London’s Café Royal in 1902 remains one of the highlights. ‘In my life I have had some good and bad moments,’ he said in his speech that night. ‘This is one of the best.’

This new play by Sue Blundell complements The British Museum exhibition 'Rodin and the Art of Antiquity' (sponsored by Bank of America Merrill Lynch)

'Rodin and his London Friends' is directed by Rob McIndoe, and performed by the Shipshape Theatre Company.
