Rockport RETREET
Event Information
Description
Do not miss this special event! An exceptional host of powerful partners will gather to plant trees along the 3rd coast in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Join us!
On August 25, 2017, a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 130 mph made landfall on the Texas coast. Leaving behind $125 billion in damage and 104 casualties in the US alone, Hurricane Harvey is tied with Hurricane Katrina as the costliest tropical cyclone on record. Not only was housing and infrastructure badly damaged, so too was the surrounding environment. RETREET will lead volunteers in planting up to 150 large native trees that will serve as powerful symbols of hope, reestablishing the environmental identity of Rockport, TX, and providing shade for islanders and habitat for birds and other wildlife. Rockport RETREET will be a major environmental and infrastructural investment that will leave a legacy for generations to come.
