Rockaway Beach Cleanup
Date and time
Description
Organic cotton clothing company Loomstate, recyclable crafting non-profit Skraptacular, and environmental non-profit Surfrider NYC are gathering friends in Rockaway for a beach cleanup!!
As the weather warms, New Yorkers flock to the beaches, leaving behind lots of trash. Additionally, plastics bags and garbage wash in from the ocean. Let's work together to make sure that trash doesn't make it back into our waterways, into marine ecosystems, and into our food!
After picking up trash off the beach, those interested will help us create an artistic installation piece out of what we find, with the guidance of Skraptacular founder and a local artist.
GIVEAWAY!
One lucky attendee will be chosen at random to win two tickets to a Jack Johnson concert!!
WHAT TO BRING
We will provide gloves, bags and crafting supplies. Please wear suncreen, sand-friendly shoes, and clothing that can get dirty. Bathrooms and food will be available at the 86th Street concession stand, should you need food or drink during this time.
HOW TO GET THERE
Getting here is super simple from Manhattan. You can take the A train straight to Beach 67th Street, hop off and walk toward the ocean. If you're driving, parking will be available on the street.
