ROCK BAND SONGWRITING: ARRANGING/RECORDING
Full-day (6 hours) camp / Monday – Friday / 9am-3pm each day.
Bring a lunch Mon-Thu; Pizza will be provided on Friday.

All instruments and voices. We can accommodate almost anyone interested. However, for younger students (under age 10) and those with very little musical training, we would prefer a consultation first. Please contact us at rod@rodgoelz.com.
Write and record your own music in collaboration with other campers!
Whether you've written your own material before or songwriting is completely new to you, this camp has something to offer. Study the songwriting of past masters and current tunesmiths. Explore song forms. Look at ways to come up with engaging lyrics. Learn about the elements of writing and recording your own music by collaborating with others and exploring the various elements of song from experienced instructors.
• Songwriting - Lyrics, melody, chords, collaboration.
• Arrangement - Form, instrumentation, parts, harmonies.
• Recording - The process, microphones and their uses, acoustics, tracking, mixing.
• Also get a crash course in copyright, publishing and other aspects of the music business.
Rod Goelz and the additional instructors and clinicians will each give their own unique perspective on the songwriting process. Rod is the principle writer for the band Groove Jones. A composer of music in nearly all styles, he’s got “hooks for days”! Rod studied at Berklee College of Music and has been teaching, writing, recording and performing music for the last 27 years. Cal Weary - Lead vocals with Boompop Coaltion, and formally with Eden Park, Cal is the CEO of Weary Arts Group (out of York, PA). He been a performer, songwriter and singer since he was 2 years old. Cal's vocal command of many different styles of music, combined with his unique talents as an improvisational lyricist, make him a stellar addition to the ROCK BAND SONGWRITING CAMP.
Vito Grippi - York College Creative Writing Professor Vito Grippi will discuss lyric writing basics and apply concepts of figurative language used in poetry and other literary works to the realm of music and songwriting.
