ROBIN SPIELBERG TO PERFORM AT STEINWAY GALLERY PARAMUS

CONCERTS TO BENEFIT A+ EDUCATION AND PERFORMING ARTS OF NJ

Steinway Artist Robin Spielberg has just celebrated her twentieth year as one of America’s most popular female pianist/composers. She is currently at work on her 18th CD and is gearing up for a 15 city tour that begins this September in Michigan.

For the past two summers, her teen-aged daughter, Valerie has carried on the family tradition of music-making by marching with The Raiders Drum & Bugle Corps, a corps that competes in the Open Class division within Drum Corps International (DCI). Spielberg and her husband attended the World Championships in Indianapolis where the corps competed at Lucas Oil Stadium. It was such a remarkable experience for Spielberg’s daughter, that when Spielberg heard the Raiders’ umbrella organization (the non-profit A+ Education and Performing Arts) was pursuing additional fundraising opportunities to meet their educational goals, the idea of a benefit concert was born. The Steinway Gallery of Paramus (455 Route 17 South) graciously donated their concert hall for Robin to perform at 3pm on Saturday October 14th on a beautiful concert grand.

Spielberg has been winning the hearts of listeners around the world with her compelling melodies and sensitive piano technique since debuting her first recording of original solos for piano in 1993, “Heal of the Hand.” Robin’s newest recording "Another Time, Another Place," marks her return to creating the kind of music for which she is most famous: melodic soundtracks for her life journey. Spielberg’s concerts have the distinction of intertwining humorous and poignant storytelling with her musical gifts at the piano. Robin will perform live at the Steinway Gallery of Paramus on October 14th at 3 & 7pm. The indie artist, who has sold over a million recordings, has toured from coast to coast and has toured through South Korea several times where she is a bonafide “piano star.” “It is Spielberg's gift to make music that immediately creates a contemplative, romantic aura...,” writes The Boston Herald.

Spielberg, a New Jersey native now residing in rural Pennsylvania, was added to the prestigious Steinway Artist Roster in 1996. She penned a memoir on her life as a touring musician, Naked on the Bench: My Adventures in Pianoland which won a Gold Medal Award in the Reader’s Favorite International book Award contest. Spielberg, a founding member of The Atlantic Theater Company in New York City narrated the audiobook version (iTunes, amazon.com).

In addition to touring (sometimes with Steinway in tow), Spielberg is a National Celebrity Artist Spokesperson for the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). She gave a TEDx Talk on the topic of healing and music and often speaks and performs in nursing care facilities, hospitals and retirement communities.

A Plus Education and Performing Arts is the umbrella organization for 17-time Drum Corps International Championship Finalists, The Raiders Drum & Bugle Corps, the indoor percussion ensemble East Coast Percussion, The Winter Star an indoor color guard unit, and the community theater group, The Riverfront Community Players. All organizations support young adults, ages 14-21 with musical, educational and character-building experiences through the vehicle of the performing arts. Unlike many other drum corps who charge high tuition for participation, the A+ membership groups seek out sponsorships, grants, and fundraisers to help subsidize tuitions for economically disadvantaged teens who wish to enter the program.
