Event description

Description

The Detroit Masonic Temple Library, Archive, and Research Center cordially invites you to the inaugural Robert L. Murphy Lecture and Gala on Saturday, October 6th at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center (907 Monroe, Dearborn MI). Masons and non-Masons alike are welcome for an evening of enlightenment, entertainment, and enjoyment! This event will feature excellent food and drink, outstanding musical performances, a silent auction, and a lecture from a renowned Masonic scholar. All proceeds directly benefit the Library and its mission of preserving the treasures of the Craft and enhancing educational opportunities.

WB Murphy (1935-2017) was a familiar face within the Fraternity. Always a source of wit, wisdom, and wise counsel, and a friend and mentor to many, he was a firm believer in the importance of Masonic education.

Our special guest lecturer is WB Adam Kendall. WB Kendall is Editor for the Scottish Rite Research Society, and serves on its board of directors. He is the former collections manager and curator of exhibits for the Henry W. Coil Library and Museum of Freemasonry. He is a past President of the Masonic Library and Museum Association. An enthusiastic advocate of Masonic culture, WB Kendall has published several essays in notable Masonic and academic publications. He is a Past Master of Phoenix Lodge No. 144 and the Northern California Research Lodge in San Francisco, and is a full member of Quatuor Coronati No. 2076 in London. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in American and World History at California State University, Los Angeles, where he is also an editor for the historical journal, Perspectives, and a member of the historical honor society, Phi Alpha Theta.
