Robert Burns Night
Come celebrate the Bard of Scotland's 257th birthday with a full evening of dinner, toasts, haggis and poetry!
The Annual Robert Burns Dinner, hosted by the St. Andrew's Society of Central Illinois, will be held Saturday, January 28, at the Northfield Inn and Suites in Springfield. Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the official Piping in of the Haggis set to kick off the night's festivities at 6:30 p.m.
Following the reading of Ode to the Haggis, dinner will be served, toasts to the Bard and others will be made, and entertainment from pipers and dancers will round out the evening's events.
Tickets for the night are $35 for Society members and $40 for non-members. A meal for those under age 12 is available for $15. Dinner choices are as follows:
Sliced Roast Sirloin with Red Wine Sauce, mushrooms, slivered bacon and pearl onions
Breast of Chicken stuffed with spinach leaves and cream cheese, served with a white garlic cream sauce
Salmon with a basil cream sauce
All meals come with mixed vegatables, oven roasted red potatoes, salad and dessert. Coffee, tea and water are provided; a cash bar is also available.
Children's meal includes chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, veggies and applesauce.
Deadline for tickets purchased online is January 25. Advanced reservations are required due to space limitations. Tickets will not be available at the door.
Dress is semi-formal. Kilts are encouraged, but not required. Hope to see you there for a great evening of whiskey, haggis, poetry, food, shenanigans and malarkey!
