Take your meditation off the cushion and into the beautiful outdoors; come for a mindful hike in a secluded part of the city. and let yourself be inspired and grounded in nature.
Each Roaming Zen event consists of mindful hiking, with an emphasis on quiet presence, some time for meditation at an auspicious location, and chances for discussion.
In the first series of Roaming Zen, over the course of seven hikes and one bike ride, we took in Lobos Creek and Islais Creek, Tennessee Hollow, Corona Heights, Mount Olympus, Buena Vista Park and Duboce Park, Twin Peaks, Mount Sutro, Diamond Heights, Kite Hill and Tank Hill, Glen Canyon, Angel Island, Mountain Lake and Baker Beach. On those beautiful spring days, we climbed staircases, and hidden cut-throughs, on pavement, dirt, grass, sand, woodchips and gravel, listening to birds, watching butterflies, smelling flowers, feeling the warmth of the sun and the cool of the breeze.
The second season of Roaming Zen continues on Sunday, October 16th.
Please join me for the third part of our exploration of the Golden Gate, as we roam from Crissy Field to Fort Point, up to the bridge and back through the Presidio.
We will meet at the single tree at the western end of Crissy Field - this is on the grass adjacent to Mason St, across from the House of Air, Planet Granite and Roaring Mouse Cycles - at 1:30pm.
You are encouraged to come by public transportation, so that if you don't want to loop back to the starting point, you can just take off. Bring snacks and water, and layers to cope with whatever the weather decides to do. The routes will include climbs and non-paved surfaces, so be prepared for that. Heavy rain will cause a cancelation. Please be punctual.
You can also just show up and pay me 'at the door'.
The remaining dates currently scheduled are:
Saturday October 29th - location tbd - perhaps Bernal Heights, Mount Davidson, or Grand View Park
Sunday November 13th - Bicycle Roaming Zen in conjunction with Sunday Streets along the Embarcadero.
