Description


Transition from high school to college is a critical time in a student's life and may be particularly challenging for students with learning disabilities.* Most students, and their parents, are not aware of the many resources available that may help students maximize their chances for a successful college experience. This informative and engaging conference, designed specifically for students with disabilities who plan to attend a two- or four-year college, will provide students, parents and professionals with valuable information and resources to help prepare students as they transition to college and to ensure that the years ahead are successful ones.

All students under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

*Conference appropriate for students with a Specific Learning Disability (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia), High Functioning Autism and/or ADHD, planning to attend a two-or four-year college.

FAQs

What is included in the ticket price?

The $50.00 ticket price includes admission, materials and lunch for one parent and one child. Lunch will include your choice of pizza (cheese, vegetarian or pepperoni), chips, cookie, fruit and water. Attendees may also bring lunch and use the available microwaves to heat food. Coffee, water and snacks will be offered throughout the day.

Can a parent/guardian attend without a child? Can a professional attend?

Yes, although PHP highly encourages students to attend this conference, a parent may attend without their child. The ticket price is $50 and includes lunch and materials. Professionals may also attend the conference at the $50 price. Seating is limited.

Can students attend without a parent?

Yes, but only if they are 18 or older. Those students should contact the organizer to register. All students under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Please note that there is not any PHP signage at the entrance to our building's parking lot so look for "Sobrato Center" instead. Additional parking can be found at the back of the building (follow signs) if the the front lot is full. If you do park in the back lot, please disregard the Employee Entrance sign and enter the building through the back door. Registration will be held in the the entrance lobby.

The Race St. Light Rail Station is just a two-minute walk from the Sobrato Center.
