Description
You are cordially invited to join us for the Riverside County Healthy Cities Network kick-off event.
As you may know, the burden of chronic disease has been established nationally and locally. Its causes, such as obesity, result in increased health care costs, loss of productivity, and premature death. It has also been documented that the zip code where people live, work, play and learn, can have a more prominent role in determining life expectancy than people’s own genetic code. By investing in the wellbeing of individuals in our communities and making health a priority in comprehensive planning, we could reduce these harmful realities and improve everyday life. In order to accomplish this feat, all the cities in Riverside County are encouraged to participate in combatting the health issues prevalent in their specific communities and neighborhoods through programs and policies geared to improve the built environment.
This event will showcase best practices from Riverside County cities that have explicitly integrated health into their community development and planning efforts. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to connect with a wide array of health champions and providers of funding, programs and resources that can help you support your own healthy city efforts.
If you have any questions, please contact us at (951)358-7171 or via email at EMarquez@rivcocha.org.
We look forward to seeing you there!
