Event description

Description

The City of Chicago's Department of Planning Development hosts a discussion on its River Edge Ideas Lab initiative. This project engages nine leading architectural firms to develop design concepts for several typical river edge conditions found throughout the South Branch of the Chicago River. The participating architecture firms are: Perkins+Will, Site Design, David Adjaye Associates, SOM, Michael Van Valkenburg Associates, Studio Gang, Ross Barney Architects, James Corner Field Operations, SWA and Sasaki. Each firm will produce design concepts for the same set of river edge conditions. These concepts will then be organized into an exhibition for public review and comment.

The Ideas Lab is not a competition – so there will be no winner, per se but a set of ideas for Chicagoans to examine and interact with as they express opinions about the best and most engaging concepts. The exhibition will take place during the Biennial with satellite displays elsewhere in the city during the same period of time.
