About this event
In this workshop led by Gonzalo Guerrero and Tara Ridgedell of Secret Riso Club, participants will learn the basics of Risograph printmaking through the lens of band posters.
Students will use the Risograph machine, a high-speed stencil duplicator that allows for vibrant printing, to complete a series of guided projects, troubleshooting machine quirks and learning best practices for printing with multiple colors.
Ultimately, participants will create band posters inspired by Laura Parnes’ exhibition Tour Without End (2014-2019), a multi-platform installation that casts real-life musicians, artists, and actors as bands on tour, and expands into a cross-generational, Trump–era commentary on contemporary culture and politics.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will print up to 20 copies of a 2 color poster. Participants should bring a design with them that is already finalized (or close to it). We will guide participants through preparing files for Risograph printing.
Date: This in-person workshop will meet at Secret Riso Club (238 Melrose Street, Brooklyn 11206) once on Saturday, November 6 from 1-5pm.
Price: $150
Audience: Open to all. All participants must show proof of vaccination and wear a mask throughout the workshop.
Materials: Materials will be provided.
