Event description

Description

As part of A/D/O's commitment to exploring the future of design, we regularly host workshops for artists, designers and design enthusiasts. Our first workshop of 2019 provides an opportunity to make custom prints using our in-house Risograph printer.

In this workshop, lead by Author, Illustrator and A/D/O Workspace Member, Cecilia Ruiz, you will learn the fundamentals of Risograph printing techniques and experiment with shapes and values to create a custom 11x17 print that you will be able to take home.

Workshop includes:

  • 1:1 instruction on how to use Risograph printer

  • all materials included (with 11x17 french paper and stock for final prints)

  • 2 colors of ink

  • Light refreshments and snacks

Participants can come with art, or design on the fly. To learn more about the A/D/O Workspace and membership opportunities, please contact pavel@a-d-o.com.

What is Risographic Printing?

Risograph printing is as a cross between screen printing and photocopying. The Riso printer gives you all the wonders of screen printing and more—bright colors, overlapping inks, beautiful textures, charming mistakes and a handcrafted look.

About Cecilia

After obtaining her BFA in Graphic Design from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, illustrator and graphic designer Cecilia Ruiz decided to challenge herself and furthered her expertise by receiving an MFA in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After falling in love with the city (and a man), she now calls New York home and welcomes the challenge and fire-in-the-belly it provides. Some of her clients include The New York Times, Fast Company, Penguin Random House, Shiseido, Hunter Douglas and August Journal among others. She has written and illustrated three books. The Book of Memory Gaps, published by Penguin Random House in 2015; A Gift from Abuela, published by Candlewick Press in 2018, and The Book of Extraordinary Deaths, published by Penguin Random House in the fall of 2018.
