Course Title: Risk Assessment: The Foundation of the Audit Process

Synopsis: Risk assessment is the foundation of the audit process, identifying risks and setting priorities for the audit work. In this seminar, attendees will learn key skills to enhance their risk identification and assessment process which should assist them in focusing future audit efforts on the areas of greatest exposure of the process, organization or entity under review. As a result, it will enable auditors to have a more profound impact on their organization.  This session will give two unique perspectives in two 4-hour sessions which should provide practical guidance including lessons learned that can be employed to improve the skillsets of internal auditors.

 

Session 1 (8:30am-12pm):

Sesssion Title: The Speed of Risk: Understanding the Velocity in Which Risk Can Emerge in Your Organization

Audience:  Auditors with five or less years experience that want to enhance their risk assessment methods to increase the value of their audit work. More experienced auditors who want a refresher or to identify new ideas or approaches to risk assessment.

Speaker Bio:

Jonathan Wolfe is the Director of Internal Audit at Rosetta Stone, responsible for Sarbanes Oxley Compliance, Internal Audit and Operational Risk Management. Prior to that he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of a private Bank and Trust responsible for all apects of operations including: Information Technology, Branch Administration, Sales/Deposit/Loan Operations and Treasury Management Services. He also led an internal audit group for a diversified property management firm and served in management roles for two professional services firms. He was President of the Miami Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors from 2005-2006 and served as a Boardmember until 2010.

Monica Dalwadi isa  member of Baker Tilly's Risk and Internal Audit Services practice with over ten years of experience. Prior to joining the firm, Monica worked in the internal audit department of a financial institution where she led risk assessment activities.


David Clark is a Manager in Baker Tilly's Risk and Internal Audit Services practice with seven years of experience serving primarily higher education institutions, academic medical centers and non-for-profit organziaton. David works to provide internal audit, financial and operational risk management, fraud investigation, organizational governance and sponsored research compliance services.


Lindsey Garst is a Senior in Baker Tilly's Risk and Internal Audit Services practice and has been with Baker Tilly for four years. Lindsey works to provide guidance in the areas of internal audit, grants administration, sponsored research and fraud investigation.
