Want to explore new technologies and new ideas?
Want to build something amazing this summer?

Bellevue College's RISE Learning Institute is proud to announce the Makers & Scholars Summer Experience, a series of 5 workshops and makerspace events. Students who participate in 4 or more events will receive a certificate as a RISE Learning Institute Maker & Scholar.*

BY REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT, YOU INDICATE THAT YOU INDEND TO ATTEND ALL OF THE WORKSHOPS LISTED BELOW. (You can register for just one or two individual events, but priority will be given to students who register for the entire series.)


All events begin in the BC Library Collaboratory.


Weds. June 28, 1:30 to 4:00: Two workshops. Participants choose between
Sequencing DNA (with Stacey Gregersen) or Fire Engineering (with Lindi Mujugira)

Workshop: New Frontiers of 3D Design: 3D Printing, CNC, Etching & Carving (with Jono Vaughn)

Thurs. July 6, noon to 4:30
Pop-up Makerspace Featuring 3D Design: Print, machine, etch, or carve something amazing

Workshop: Intro to Arduino & Robotics (with Caleb Teel)

Pop-up Makerspace Featuring Arduino & Robotics: Build your own robot or device

Wikispeed: Build a Carbon Fiber Car that Gets 100MPG, Sprint One

Weds. July 19, 1:30 to 3:20
Wikispeed: Build a Carbon Fiber Car that Gets 100MPG, Sprint Two

Both days contain the same content. You may attend either or both days.

The Art of the Pitch: How to Promote Your Creations & Ideas (with Jen Anderson)

This event will conclude with a pitch contest, and there will be prizes (TBD) for the winning students

* The RISE Makers & Scholars Certificate is not an officially recognized academic credential of the college. Students who burn down the college are not eligible for the certificate.
