Event description

Description

Rise & Grind is an event series produced by The Hustle. Designed to empower, inspire, and educate before your workday even begins, Rise & Grind combines breakfast and community so you can start your day off right.

Biohacking isn't just a nerdy trend -- it's one of the fastest-growing industries in the Bay Area. From workout routines to fasting to dietary supplements, innovative entrepreneurs are exploring many different ways we can unlock our full potential.

At our Rise and Grind: Biohacking, we’re gathering 3 experts who’ve explored the ways in which food, bio-science, and supplements can optimize the way you work, eat, and think.

Here's how it works: You'll arrive around 8:00am and grab yourself a big ole plate of breakfast. You'll have some time to meet other folks who are in your field. No pressure, just good people and great food.

Once everyone's had a chance to feast, a panel of biohacking experts will unpack the myths, science, and benefits of biohacking trends.

When the panel is over, feel free to hang out and meet the speakers. We'll close everything up around 10:00am.

SPEAKERS:

David Renteln: Co-Founder @ Soylent

Dave is the co-founder of Soylent -- a meal replacement brand that provides complete nutrition through one beverage. It was originally developed as a budget-friendly way to enhance efficiency by eliminating the need for meal prep while still getting all the calories and vitamins you need to thrive. Dave, who was also Soylent's CMO until recently, saw the company earn 300% growth and collect over $72m in funding in just 4 years.

Dr Molly Maloof, MD

Dr. Molly Maloof's goal is to maximize human potential by dramatically extending human healthspan through medical technology, scientific wellness, and educational media. Since 2012 she has worked as an independent advisor and strategy consultant to over 20 companies in the Bay Area. Her private medical practice focuses on providing health optimization and personalized medicine to her patients. She is particularly interested in the intersection between systems biology, data-driven wellness and personal health technologies for optimizing health.

Geoffrey Woo: Co-Founder @ HVMN (formerly Nootrobox)

Geoff had just graduated from Stanford's computer science program when he started experimenting with nootropic -- supplements that are used to boost concentration and improve memory. His interest in the topic lead him to start Nootrobox (recently rebranded to HVMN). The company was profitable immediately, and has seen 300% year over year growth. HVMN has become a leader in the biohacking space, developing products designed to help people enhance their bodies and minds with the ultimate goal of optimizing the human body.

George Burke: Co-founder @ AQUA.Foundation

George sits at the intersection of health/wellness and cryptocurrency as a co-founder of AQUA.Foundation: the first blockchain-based biotech research crowdfunding platform. As its first project, George & team are testing a therapy to reverse human aging -- the first clinical study of its kind approved in the US. In 2016 George founded the biohacking Meetup group SF Peak Performance. He previously was CMO of meal delivery service FUEL. Today, you’ll find George sipping a buttery mug full of Bulletproof Coffee, secretly wishing he had a donut to go with it.
