Description

Many people want to invest in stocks and bonds but don't know how or where to begin. UCC is here to help! We believe that successful people and neighborhoods overcome the effects of systemic racism through equal access to education, economic prosperity, health, power and influence. Designed for leaders of color, this Rise and Grind Mastermind Session focuses on microinvesting as a path to economic well-being. We are debunking the myth that you need a broker, private banker, or extensive financial acumen in order to invest in stocks and bonds!

This interactive session will introduce participants to smartphone apps that allow you to use your spare change to begin saving and investing into stocks and bonds. We are engaging local resident experts to share their collective wisdom gained from their experiences with microinvesting. Learn strategies for success and pitfalls to avoid. You will leave not only inspired with what you can do, but how to start. The only thing you will need to bring is your smartphone and you.

Registration is required and includes a catered lunch. Parking options include metered street parking and a parking ramp next door at Pearl and Ionia. Half of all proceeds from this training will go to support economic equity work at the Urban League of West Michigan.

Why Masterminds? According to Forbes, a mastermind group is designed to help leaders navigate through challenges using the collective intelligence of others. Mastermind sessions are designed to facilitate personal and professional growth, mentoring, social connections, and strategy rooted in collective wisdom.
