Ripple is a student-initiated and student-led annual conference hosted by Elon University. At Ripple, students are encouraged to engage in genuine (and fun!) interfaith work to prepare them to develop as interfaith leaders and ambassadors.
Our 2023 theme, Stretching the Limits of Religious Identities, centers on the idea that no religion, spirituality, faith tradition, philosophy, or worldview is a monolith. During this year’s conference, participants will be encouraged to think outside the box, celebrate their own overlapping intersectional identities, and make space to learn, grow, and engage.
Participants will engage in dialogue, reflection, and training through keynote speakers, panels, and interactive breakout workshops. Other key features of the conference include an art project that facilitates reflection and understanding across differences, as well as a service project where attendees get engaged with the local community and take action together.
We encourage you to organize a campus group to travel together – we’ll assist with logistics and any needs you might have!
There are plenty of opportunities for leadership as well:
Community Group Leaders, who help fellow Ripple attendees process and reflect on the conference throughout the weekend, get to know each other, and make connections
Affinity Group Leaders, who create spaces for a specific population of attendees in that processing, reflection, and community-building. Affinity Groups we have hosted in the past have included Jewish, Atheist/Agnostic/Nonreligious, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, & Earth Spirituality.
Breakout Session Leaders, who host a workshop session to do an activity together, facilitate discussion, or educate attendees about a chosen topic. Breakout Sessions are flexible and can vary broadly, so we encourage you to apply and be creative!
We welcome students from other campuses to join our Leadership Team! Anyone interested in helping to plan and implement this interfaith conference can feel free to reach out to therippleconference@gmail.com or fill out the leadership interest forms on rippleconference.org.
