Ring of Fire refers to an area in downtown ATL that is in the early stages of a massive transformation. The fire part refers to the economic development — capital formation, investment, construction, jobs, tax base, etc. — that will be occurring over the next 10-20 years. The catalyst is a mind-blowing collection of large-scale real estate projects that are located on (mostly) abandoned industrial sites.
On this tour, you will get to connect with ATL's past, present and future. You will learn about and/or get to see the following projects:
- Underground Atlanta
- South Downtown
- Freight House
- Centennial Yards
- Artisan Yards
- Reverb Hotel
- Mercedes Benz Stadium
- State Farm Arena
- Margaritaville Hotel
- Fairlie-Poplar District
Some things to know...
- If you are unfamiliar with my tours, here is some guest feedback. You can also read some reviews on my Trip Advisor page.
- The tour begins and ends at the peach drop tower at Underground Atlanta, directly across the street from the main entrance of the Five Points MARTA station
- Bring an iPad or tablet if you have one
- Sign up for my free newsletter at ATLsherpa. This will give you access to some multi-media tools you will want to have during the tour.
- We will also be making a few "pit stops" along the way at some secret locations
- To participate in this tour, you MUST wear a mask at all times. If you are not willing to do this please do not register. If you remove your mask during the tour, you will be asked to leave the tour. Sorry for the hard line but this is necessary due to the ongoing pandemic.
- The minimum age to participate in this tour is 21
- Pets are strongly DISCOURAGED. The areas (surfaces) are not conducive to pets and we will be going inside some buildings where pets are not allowed.
- As always, please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water, a hat, sunscreen, etc.
- Here's a map of the route we will be taking (subject to change)
Look forward to seeing you on Feb 13!
