Event description

Description

Hidden among the strange metamorphic rocks of Ring Mountain is the rare and endemic Tiburon Mariposa Lily. We'll search for this botanic jewel, as well other flowers that survive and even flourish in serpentine soils.

We'll also view unusual geological features and learn why geologists exclaim "Oh schist!" when someone mentions Ring Mountain.

LEADER
Ken Lavin

WHERE TO MEET
We will assemble at the gate for the Phyllis Ellman Trail off Paradise Drive.

NOTES
Bring lunch, water, dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. There are no restrooms at the trailhead. As you drive down Paradise Drive, look for the athletic field on the left and stop there for restrooms.
