About this event

Discover hidden spaces. Learn about public art. Enjoy lush greenery.

The Rincon Sneak walking tour takes you into some of the most hidden public open spaces in all of San Francisco. You will explore several spaces that were given over to public use by developers while learning insider stories from our local tour guides.

'The East Cut' is a neighborhood layered in history. Many are familiar with San Francisco, but not many know the interesting places to explore in Rincon Hill, Transbay, and Folsom Street. As a visitor, you will get an in-depth background on the City's open spaces. As a local, you will never run out of public spaces to revisit and enjoy. This tour is led by local guides who will share with you an in-depth knowledge of the neighborhood, as well as their own personal experiences.

This tour is based on our "Open Space Inventory", a booklet bringing attention to underutilized privately owned public open spaces, that was featured in an article by John King in the San Francisco Chronicle. Click this link to read more.

Tour Guides

Lauren: Lauren fell in love with San Francisco many years ago as a college student, and continues this love story today. She and her husband are committed to making the East Cut the most friendly, fun and inclusive neighborhood in SF. Being a tour guide is one of the things Lauren does to help achieve this goal, as well as being a restaurant maven, wine aficionado, and constant explorer of her favorite city. When not traipsing around the City, Lauren serves as an executive coach.

Sarah: Sarah is a San Francisco local. She splits her time between Hawaii and the Bay Area, enjoying the life that San Francisco offers. Ask her about golf, water sports or live music events!

Jenefer: Jenefer is a native San Franciscan who returned here two years ago after living away for many years. As she loves architecture, museums, walking and gardening, she soon found the East Cut has much to offer. She particularly enjoys discovering the beautiful old and exciting new buildings along with the many inviting POPOS (privately owned public open spaces) with their world-class art and sculpture. This led her to become a volunteer with the East Cut leading tours of this engaging neighborhood.

Judy: Judy knows and loves the impact a strategic approach to coaching and people strategy can create. She focuses both her consulting practice and her volunteer work on helping individuals and organizations achieve their full potential. She devotes a significant portion of her consulting efforts to non-profits, fulfilling a personal commitment to give back to the community. She chose to become an East Cut Tour Guide to share her love of this community with neighbors and visitors. She later joined the East Cut CBD Board to expand that commitment, and currently serves on the Executive and Business Development Committees, where she hopes to leverage both her corporate and non-profit experience to serve her neighborhood.
