If you want to learn about Dutch art and culture, there is no better place to go then Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum. The stunning 19th Century museum contains the largest collection of Dutch art in the world, with more than 80,000 works of art spanning 800 years of Dutch history. All the masterpieces of the Dutch Golden Age are here, including Rembrandt’s famous Night Watch and Vermeer’s Milkmaid.

WE’RE GOING TO FOCUS ON:

  • The Dutch Golden Age and the painters living at that time (Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, Jan Steen etc.)

  • The people who commissioned these paintings: the wealthy Dutch middle classes of the 17th century

  • The special techniques and materials these painters used

  • Recognising their talent by drawing some of the details from their paintings
