Event description

Description

Calling Adult Educators and Community Organizers: Join us for an afternoon and dinner with us in the beautiful space of the University of Alberta Botanical Gardens on Friday August 16th from 1 - 7 pm.

Righting Relations is a heart-centred, national network of adult educators and community organizers working to bring about radical social change. It is a commitment to a process of decolonization and of righting relations with one another, land and life. It is a space to challenge our biases, open our hearts, collectively learn and build forward towards a just and equitable Turtle Island.

We invite you to join us in this journey. In this session, members Roxanne Ulanicki, Louise Pozdzik and Angelica Quesada will lead us in connecting our roots within the colonial context of Canada. All we ask is that you bring an item with you, some small piece that you can share that connects you to Canada; a piece of your family history.

There is a need to push the margins in adult education. There is a tendency to keep it safe while now more than ever we need brave and open hearted conversations and learning to create understanding on very difficult issues in our country. We need adult educators with the confidence and skills to navigate this work and who continue to strengthen each other in the process.

The work on some of Canada’s darkest issues is challenging and stressful to people who are working to create spaces of learning and change. Righting Relations provides the nourishment that adult educators and community organizers need to continue on their journey while strengthening them in the process.
